Your Memories of Arsenal at Home
|
Unfortunately, our Home record Vs Arsenal since I've been going is fucking diabolical - although I know that victories against them at our gaff, especially, were a lot more frequent in the 1980s and before.
2-1 win in 99/00 - PAOLO making a fool of Adams and Keown.
1-0 victory in 06/07 (our last at Home to them) - Marlon with a late winner; Pardew and Wenger clashing on the sidelines!
Shit ones:
Far too many.
0-4 in 98/99 - worst debut I've ever seen from Scott Minto. Even the Arsensl fans were chanting 'give it to Minto'.
0-3 in 10/11 - another awful cunt debut from Wayne Bridge. Wanker.
Most gutting:
FA Cup quarter-final penalty shootout defeat in 97/98. Deserved to go through at Highbury and at our place. Would've won the FA Cup that year if we had done so.
You cunts?

Doh, well spotted Eggy!
Yes definitely was 1984 and can I change my age on the post to, as I would have been 14 then. :-)

October 1985, beat them 3-1 at the height of their Charlie Nicholas adoration.
Ground was packed solid, I squeezed in at the back of the North Bank bar area up on the iron bars.
We played really well on and were selected as the main game on Match of the Day that game. Jimmy Hill commenting "It's so great to see a ground absolutely packed like sardines", little did he know Hillsborough was coming up in a couple of years.
Massive ICF v Gooner rucks all the way back to Plaistow afterwards. Watched pitched battles with bricks and punches being thrown down near Pelly Road. I had my claret and blue scarf on watching it all kicking off from the sidelines as a scared although slightly in awe of it 15 year old. A Gooner come running up to me at some stage and I have to say I shit myself... To be fair the Gooner only asked me where their lot had run to, I gladly pointed him on his way.
Got home and me Mum and Dad said "You're never going West Ham again with all that trouble" Two weeks later I was back and hooked for life.

The 2-2 when Kanoute missed his penalty. A lot of people say if we had won that match we'd have gone on to great things that season.
Also Harewood and his last minute winner in November 2006, running to chav corner then slamming his shirt on the floor! I think he tried to recreate this at the Noble testimonial only for his gial to be chalked off for offiside, made me chuckle.

A night game, early 80's at the end of the season. Can't remember the score, think we lost. There was a huge off outside round the back of the South Bank after the game. People all on the garage roofs and someone fell through onto a car. Bloke came charging out out the flats above the shops with a baseball bat. Not sure if it was his car or not.
Also John Hartson's goal in the FA Cup and his celebration afterwards. Also as mentioned, Liam Brady's goal.

really difficult one this as there are very few good memories of Arsenal at the Boleyn. Perhaps the 3-1 back in the early eighties when Swindlehurst was sent off.
My fondest memories of the Arse have always been the wins at Highbury

I remember a balmy, May summer's evening in 75 or 76 when we beat them 1-0 due to a Paddon thunderbolt.

That wasn't in the stadium, though, but that night, certainly. Not the whole ear, either, more a Mike Tyson/Hollyfield Love Nibble. I always wondered if the bloke had a chronic case of muff dive pube throat after.

Hadn't they just won the league cup before we played them in 1987?

That 1987 match was a classic. The ruck at HT was caused by the old bill wading into the corner of the Chicken Run near the South Bank, as WHU fans had been throwing an Arsenal scarf around. No Arsenal were involved at all. The old bill were cunts that night.

performance wise, Paolo destroying them and Keown was special
the other one was the midweek 1996-97 game when they beat us 2-1 at home, quite a few of us in the bobby moore lower stayed after the final whistle to let Brown know we needed some new signings. they finally moved us out the stand but we continued to the players entrance. brown obviously wouldn't show his face but we did sign kitson & hartson within the next few weeks so happy days

Seeing Lampard and PDC take the piss out of Viera and Keowon was awesome, they got mugged left and right in that game! Of course it got better after Razor walked 20 yards to barge Viera who started spitting at everyone and got sent off.
